The results from the poll show that most of you felt there were too many forums. The most popular choice, by far, was to consolidate them into chassis type, so that's what I've done.
Please let me know if you find any problems or I missed anything.
Thanks to Eric, for giving me a little kick and getting me started on the conversion.

How do we (or, even should we) keep SCOA alive, and relevant? Is it better to move it to the MCA (if even possible)? What is the current membership distribution of the SCOA (say by chassis)? What is the expected dropoff in membership, due to expected attrition? Just a discussion, not trying to cause a war. Really. I'm an advocate for planned change, rather than burying our (collective) heads in the sand and just winging-it. =stan= 97 cobra |

Stan (still at Sun?), I think SVTOA can/will survive but it will be more at the regional level. I'm expecting to pay my SVTOA dues directly to the local chapter (www.svtoa.org, come join us at Devens!!). Meanwhile, SCOA still gives me the national view which I never got involved with thru the SVTOA.com website. Wayne |

Hi Wayne,
still at Sun? Nope: finally got fed up with the inept/mis-management there, and, left back in Feb'06. Big RIF going to happen there, going to impact the Burlington,MA folks.
www.svtoa.org, come join us at Devens! Just not interested in auto-x, ymmv. You know how it goes, can never seem to make time for it. Last did some OT in my cobra with the local bmwcca group, but only recently did karting at f1boston.
How's life, and work? Which company didja end up with? =stan=

Here's my take, as a SCOA old-timer, and a SVTOA chapter starter, and now cynical old coot...
SVTOA is screwed. It's going to be run by members for members now. Which means that much of the overhead (and funding!) for the fancy national stuff goes away, and it only continues as a club where they had a GOOD regional response. And, now it's just like SCOA, which has always been run by enthusiasts. I think there will be a massive decline in membership and activity for SVTOA (national) over the next year or two, with only those few active areas even surviving.
Meanwhile, I suspect that the membership of SCOA, which is much smaller anyway, will stay stable. Which reminds me... I need to renew!
I wonder what we need to do to get this website activity level up to where it used to be?
Best regards, SoCal94 |
