 The results are in!  
The results from the poll show that most of you felt there were too many forums. The most popular choice, by far, was to consolidate them into chassis type, so that's what I've done.

Please let me know if you find any problems or I missed anything.

Hello,

I am new to this forum and need some help.

I purchased a 1996 SVT Cobra via. ebay three years ago and the original owner ( whom I got it from )
informed me that he discarded all of the original purchase documentation. One thing that has been
bothering me is that he insisted that he purchased this particular Cobra right off the showroom floor
with SVO sidepipes installed. The original owner further told me that this Cobra came from SVT that
way. I have never been able to verify this and many Cobra owners think this is untrue.

Do any members here know anything about this particular "option"? Was it installed by the dealer
post ordering? If so, what explains the original owners assertion that he purchased this particular
Cobra from the dealer that way? BTW, I did contact the dealer some time ago, but they destroyed
their records and had no documentation to help me.

Clueless in North Carolina.....

I ran across some information that the original owner sent me back when I purchased the Cobra.

When I questioned him about the origin of the SVO side exvaust, this is what he wrote back to
me: When I purchased the vehicle from Ford, it was the only one in the showroom with factory
installed side pipes. The sales rep indicated the factory installed them only as a dealer
requested item.

The side exhaust was not from the factory.

Back in 96 there was a side exhaust kit from Ford Motorsport that has "SVO" molded into the lower side skirts that went with the side exhaust kit. I would say the dealer added the exhaust.

That's exactly what I thought. However, the original owner of the Cobra informed me that the
side exhaust came from the factory as a dealer requested option. BTW, my side exhaust is the
same one you referred to ( SVO embossed side skirts ). Based upon your experience, is there
any way I can verify this through Ford? I tried SVT when I first got the car, but they couldn't
help me. I'd really like to get to the bottom of this if possible.
